Bryant Park speaks French, Spanish, Japanese, and Italian with instruction by inlingua. Learn a new language or brush up on your skills in these standalone classes. Attend at any time - lessons are not cumulative.

 

A Note on Isaac ben Ayala

Isaac ben Ayala has performed and recorded with many notable bands and greats - from Quincy Jones, Ray Charles, Louis Bellson, Leon Thomas, Frank Foster, David Murray, James Spaulding, Roy Hargrove, and Wynton Marsalis, to The New York City Ballet, The Sultans of Swing, The Donald Byrd Dance Company and Joe Piscipo. He has scored numerous films and can be heard on the piano in Dave Chappelle's Block Party (2006), The Mark Twain Prize Honors Billy Crystal (2007), and Denzel Washington's The Great Debaters (2008). In addition, his orchestral arrangements were commissioned by the Preservation Hall Jazz Band of New Orleans and are currently being performed by orchestras around the world. His latest piece, For The Love of Duke, with Susan Stroman and The David Berger Orchestra at the NYC Ballet, features an extended onstage piano solo performance throughout. Isaac ben Ayala received his Bachelor of Music from The Oberlin Conservatory of Music in 1991, and was Principal Accompanist for The Boys Choir of Harlem from 2005 to 2007.

Sanctuary Director, Terri Jones, and her sociable, people-friendly birds can be found near Le Carrousel every Tuesday this summer, weather permitting.

Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famer Pete Seeger's latest Pete Seeger: His Life in His Own Words,with co-editors Rob & Sam Rosenthal and a special musical tribute by David Amram who wrote the forward to the book.

Music to start the end of your day

Led by drummer Chuck Braman and featuring guitarist Khabu Doug Young, the Chuck Braman Trio makes their debut at Bryant Park. An usual instrumentation of guitar, bass, and drums explore both the popular and lesser-known compositions of the legendary pianist and composer Thelonious Monk.


Perfectly timed for an early evening visit to the park, Bryant Park After Work features free concerts with talented New York area jazz musicians and singer-songwriters.
