This summer, our free Tuesday morning yoga class is back on the Upper Terrace! Please register for each class and bring your own mat (the park does not provide yoga mats). We also recommend bringing water and a towel. Our yoga classes are appropriate for all levels of practice.
Born in South Korea and raised in Kentucky, Andrew is a New York City-based registered yoga teacher (E-RYT 500) at Yoga Shanti, Chelsea Piers Fitness, The Well, Align Yoga Hamptons, Practice Yoga and UZIT.
While working on Wall Street, Andrew began a regular asana practice. At his first yoga class, he was amazed by the grace, flexibility and strength of the fellow students in the room. He left feeling physically challenged and refreshed, as well as more limber and centered. Many classes later, Andrew discovered yoga's enormous calming effect, bringing peace and clarity to the mind, body and soul before the start of each workday. Observing one's breath, pausing to reflect and removing distractions help to quiet the mind and organize one's thoughts, especially when juggling competing priorities and interests. Open to all levels and integrating 90's hip hop and other lively musical genres, his classes are dynamic, athletic and accessible, as well as meditative and restorative. He emphasizes alignment, which supports spinal integrity and cultivates joint stability, in order to help students discover a free and easy breath. Andrew completed his 200-hour teacher training at YogaWorks with Jodie Rufty and his 300-hour advanced teacher training at Yoga Shanti with Colleen Saidman Yee and Rodney Yee. With over 750 hours of additional training, he expresses gratitude to countless teachers and thanks his students, who teach him daily.
Prior to teaching yoga, Andrew worked in the financial services for many years, most recently as the COO of CamberView Partners. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics-Mathematics from Columbia University.
