MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — We may be approaching summer's halfway point, but Bryant Park's season-long concert series still has more than a dozen performances left on tap.
This summer's "Picnic Performances" series kicked off in June after a pandemic hiatus. All concerts are completely free, with seating on a first-come, first-served basis — no tickets needed.
Happening mostly on Fridays, the performances run through Sept. 20. Several are part of ongoing series, including Carnegie Hall Citywide, Harlem Stage and Greenwich House Music School.
The upcoming July 23 show, part of the Carnegie Hall series, is a concert by The Knights: a musicians' collective "dedicated to transforming the orchestral experience and eliminating barriers between audiences and music," according to organizers.
Following them on July 30 will be Adrienne Warren & Friends, a performance centered around the singer who earned a 2020 Tony Award nomination for her portrayal of Tina Turner on Broadway. The show will feature "some of her closest musical friends" as well as emerging Broadway guest performers.
The next day, July 31, will be the trumpet player Riley Mulherkar in concert with the Latin performer Ella Bric.
