Fall Birding Tours Begin September 9

August 27, 2019

It’s still summer, but birds know that fall is coming fast. Soon they’ll be taking flight to head south, and many that spend the summer in New England, Canada, and upstate New York will follow an age-old route that takes them directly over New York City. To the delight of NYC birders, many of these avian travelers need a place to rest and restore, and a surprising number of them spot Bryant Park and swoop down for a visit.

Bryant Park Birding tours are timed to take full advantage of the city’s propitious location, and the 2019 fall season begins on September 9. Gabriel Willow of New York City Audubon returns to conduct the tours, which have spotted 129 species at Bryant Park to date.

We offer two tours each week: 8am-9am on Mondays; and 5pm-6pm on Thursdays. Tours begin at Heiskell Plaza and are free and open to all. The six-week season concludes on October 17. To give you an idea of what you can expect, here’s a record of the species we spotted last spring.
