A New Look for the Reading Room

August 15, 2018

The Bryant Park Reading Room has a new look this year. We’ve revamped seven umbrellas, added comfortable cushions for the chairs, and table-top decals, all in eye-popping yellow, making our outdoor library easy to spot while also helping to carve out a distinct space within the park.

Best of all, the tabletop decals carry quotes from famous authors. There are six, and all are great, but one stands out, for obvious reasons: from House of Mirth by Edith Wharton: “She…remembered that in Bryant Park, there were seats where she might rest.” The park has undergone several transformations since Ms. Wharton’s time, but wow, did she nail it!
