Reading Room Kids Schedule Announced

March 21, 2018

In a recent Time Out New York article, Kids Editor Danielle Valente asks “what’s better than snuggling in bed with a good book?” and answers “bringing the story outdoors to one of NYC’s most famous destinations is certainly one way to make the story come to life, wouldn’t you say?”

Ms. Valente, excited that Bryant Park's Reading Room will return on April 2, suggests that “if you want to find a great read for yourself—and give your kiddos a taste of the NYC literary scene— the park's celebration of books is a perfect way to keep them engrossed.”

We couldn’t agree more. There are many kid-friendly events at the Reading Room through the warm weather months, beginning with Poem in Your Pocket Day on April 26, when students from NYC’s high schools come and read their own work.

Later in the summer, the Reading Room hosts Storytime (Tuesdays, June 26 – August 14), and Reading Room Kids (Saturdays, June 30 - August 14), where “youngsters will be treated to a cool story, a few magic tricks and even visits from their favorite literary characters.”

Our open-air library also caught the eye of Bethany Braun-Silva of NYMetroParents. In a post titled ”Bryant Park’s Reading Room Announces Event Line Up,” she urges readers to “enjoy summer in the city with a book…or two!”
