34th Street

  • The biggest name in retail came to 34th Street as Amazon opened a brick-and-mortar store at 7 West 34th Street in August.
  • Target also moved in, opening at 112 West 34th Street in October along with Sephora and Foot Locker.
  • Johnny Rockets brought its retro-diner look to One Penn Plaza in January.
  • Australian-based Bluestone Lane coffee opened at 435 West 31st Street, in the heart of the Manhattan West business and residential complex.
  • Dr. Martens opened a store at 1333 Broadway Butcher & Banker Steakhouse and Cocktail Vault opened at the Wyndham New Yorker Hotel in the fall.
  • Just in time for Christmas, Build-a-Bear returned to 34th Street, opening a permanent store at 22 West 34th Street.

Bryant Park

  • Several athletic footwear brands opened stores near Bryant Park, creating a veritable “sneakerhead’s paradise,” according to the New York Post.
  • Whole Foods Bryant Park opened in January at 3 Bryant Park.
  • Health-conscious lunch goers in the Bryant Park neighborhood gained another lunch option in October as Sweetgreen opened in the Grace Building.
  • The Bryant Park neighborhood welcomed an elegant spot for drinks after work and into the night with the opening of Célon Cocktail Bar & Lounge at the glamorous Bryant Park Hotel in November.
