Supervisory and Administrative Staff
Accounting and Administration
Claire Austin, Peter Ciriello, Inessa Kanevskaya, Kathleen Reece
Ours is a lively office, with dozens of visitors every day, hundreds of phone calls, countless meetings, and a wide array of transactions to track. This group keeps it all running smoothly and administers the benefits the whole staff so richly deserves.
Capital Projects
Donald Bussolini, Robert Crews Sr., Richard DeRancy, Scott Giles, Craig LaCaruba, David Martin
There’s not enough room here to list all the responsibilities taken on by this group, but a shortlist would include installing and repairing thousands of streetscape elements, ensuring that our public spaces are attractively lit at night, directing the renovations of public restrooms, and maintaining the physical integrity of all hardscape in our parks.
Horticulture
Maureen Hackett, Amadou Thiam
Seasonal planters on 34th Street, hanging baskets in Herald and Greeley Square, chrysanthemums lining the front of the New York Public Library in the fall, evergreens providing a holiday touch in winter – all that and more is the result of meticulous planning by Ms. Hackett and Mr. Thiam.
Information Services
Tomofumi Nakanishi
Mr. Nakanishi manages, and works constantly to improve, free Wi-Fi network in Bryant Park. This year he also helped launch Bryant Park and 34th Street’s new websites.
Operations
Kati Solomon, Izzie Deixel, Maureen Devenny, Owen Harrang, Victoria Kam, Michael Sampson, Brian Schliessman, Max Wysick, Rachel Zurier
The Operations team manages a wide breadth of projects, including managing some of the districts’ dynamic programs, overseeing food kiosks and concessions, keeping Bryant Park’s lawn healthy and open to the public, and ensuring the Winter Village Rink is running effectively.
Reading Room
Justin Lebron, Paul Romero, Nancy Ng, Susie Sigel
The Reading Room worked tirelessly to host more than 100 free literary events this year while providing a place for people to sit and catch up on the news each day all summer.
Retail Services
Dan Pisark, Kevin Clyne, Patricia Lewis
For 25 years, Retail Services has worked to entice quality brands to come to 34th Street, and with the opening of the Amazon store at 7 West 34th, and Target at 112 West 34th, the District’s retail profile reached new heights in 2017.
Tourism and Visitor Services
Mustapha Ahandour, Jason Feliciano, Quentin Robbins
This department didn’t miss a beat with new leader Mr. Robbins. At Le Carrousel, kids of all ages took thousands of spins, enjoyed lively free entertainment, and celebrated birthdays. And through the year, countless visitors to Bryant Park or 34th Street had their queries answered by a cheerful staffer at our Information Kiosks.
Design
Ignacio Ciocchini, Julie Ember, Aamina Ganser, Alexandra Gonzalez, Thomas Hamilton,Eric Mueller, Neha Sabnis
There’s a certain “look” to our public spaces. If you peer closely, you’ll find that all of the components that make up our public spaces are complementary. Virtually everything created by our organizations that is displayed to the public has been designed or approved by our Design Department. That includes signage for amenities and events, public restrooms, street furniture, History Sign panels, Holiday Shop kiosks and so much more.
Events
Willa Brock, Alice Cashman, Matt Castellan, Daniel Fishman, Jenna Stein, Irene Vagianos, Erika Wendel, Rossini Yen
The sheer density, complexity, and quality of the programming at our parks is one of the wonders of the city. Our Events team is always looking to improve the mix, whether by tweaking established favorites or adding innovative newcomers. From producing their own events to working with outside companies, the staff is always working on the next best event for our visitors.
Sanitation
Monty Baird, Noel Campbell, Christopher Daniels, Vincent Degennaro, Robert Doctor, Sharon Edwards, John Francis, Philip Hall, John Haywood, Said Njim, Adolph Stampfel, Victor Velez
What a challenge this group takes on. They direct crews to keep sidewalks open for pedestrians, clear the trash in the city’s busiest park and a bustling 31-block district, and, when it snows, perform miracles to ensure that snow and ice are removed from all the places in our neighborhoods where people need to go.
Security
James Albert, Carlos Antomattei, Kevin Collins, Vincent Conroy, Richard Dillon, Charles Gordon, Robert Link, John Lyke, Miguel Ramos, Hugh Ross, Daniel Svenelid
It’s not complicated: to run a first-rate Security team, you need first-rate
leadership. Our squads are led by professionals who have spent years on urban police forces. They run a team that keeps things in order, and their
relationship with NYPD is as excellent as it is important.
