Textile Art Workshops at the Art Cart

July 18, 2018

The Art Cart is partnering with the Textile Arts Center to offer free classes in two delicate art forms that may be new to many:

  • Bundle Dyeing Workshop, Saturday, July 21, 2pm–3pm. Bundle Dyeing is a fun technique of imprinting the dyes existent in flowers, leaves and roots directly into fabric. Using flower petals collected from Bryant Park and other natural materials, students will create a unique print on a silk handkerchief. Instruction provided by the Textile Arts Center. Although registration is full for this workshop, some spots still remain in the next.

  • Suminagashi Workshop, Saturday, July 28, 2pm – 3pm. Suminagashi is a Japanese marbling technique using just water and ink. Students will learn how to create and pull suminagashi monoprints on paper and fabric. Registration required at Eventbrite.

The Art Cart, located on the Fifth Avenue Terrace, is open daily, 11am–8pm, and offers free art materials for anyone wanting to explore their creative side.
