Wireless Network

May 4, 2017

Update: our WiFi network is currently disabled

In 2001, Bryant Park Corporation envisioned offering free internet access in the park, but wasn’t sure how to build such a network. After rejecting several approaches requiring wired benches, standalone kiosks, or other stationary concepts, the idea of creating a wireless environment in the park was born.

In the summer of 2002, the Bryant Park Free Wireless Network
launched with three access points covering the park and allowing users to access the internet as long as their batteries allow.

Since that time, the network has undergone several improvements. Most recently, the park upgraded the system with 12 new WiFi access points, which has enabled Bryant Park to become one of the busiest hotspots in the world.
