Can I skate for free?
The Rink at Bank of America Winter Village is NYC’s largest free admission ice skating rink. If you bring your own skates, you can ice skate for free. Please be sure to reserve an entry time ahead of your visit at the “Reserve Tickets” button on the top of this page.

Why can’t I book a ticket for dates farther out? Are those tickets all sold out already?
Those tickets are NOT sold out! Skate Rental reservations are open through mid- January 2024. Be sure to sign up for our newsletter to get ticket alerts, including bumper cars on ice!

"Own Skates" reservations are available now for the first week of Winter Village, and will roll out daily for dates one week out.

I have my own skates. Can I book multiple skate sessions in a row one day?
We do not allow multiple skate sessions to be booked in a row. This allows us to accommodate as many skaters as possible each day. We ask that each skater limit themselves to one time slot per person per day.

If I come a few minutes after my ticket time can I still skate?
Yes!

If I come several hours after my ticket time can I still skate?
Our staff will accommodate you if possible per availability. During peak season it is highly unlikely that late arrivals can be accommodated.

When is the best time to skate to avoid crowds?
-Early mornings: a great time to skate with small children, especially as skate aids are free before 11am daily, per availabilty.
-Off peak dates and times: visit weekdays and mornings, and dates before Thanksgiving and after the new year.

Does The Rink close when it rains?
The Rink is generally open rain or shine. We may close The Rink for severe weather. In the event of a weather closure, customers will be notified by email, and refunded for their purchase less a processing fee.

I don’t skate. Can I go into the Skating Pavilion and skating areas with my party?
Only guardians and chaperones for younger children can enter skating areas. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult. Chaperones do not need a ticket to enter the pavilion, but there is a strict limit*:

  • 1 chaperone may enter with a small group of children
  • For larger groups, a minimum of 2 children ages 7 and under require a minimum of 2 chaperones per 10 children
  • Children ages 8+ require one chaperone per 10 children

Please note: due to space limitations,  non-skating adults may not “babysit” items in the pavilion. Please utilize our Bag Check; shoe check is free.

Other non-skating adults cannot enter the pavilion, but can enjoy the view from around The Rink or from The Lodge Bar + Food Hall. Non-skaters in Premium Skate parties must have a Premium Skate ticket to join their group in Polar Lounge.

*Chaperone entry is at the discretion of rink staff

I have my own skates. Can I skip the line?
You must have a ticket to enter skating areas. If you are bringing your own skates please reserve a free “Bring Your Own Skates” ticket at the "Reserve Tickets" button above, ahead of your visit to The Rink. You must show your ice skates to enter with an own skates ticket.

Do you have skate aids?
Yes, we have three types of skate aids that will help your little skater (under 10 years old only) on their own or pushed by an adult:

  • Penguins are for beginner skaters under 4' tall ($22/hr)
  • Snowmen are for beginner skaters under 5' tall ($22/hr)
  • Zamboni skate aids are pushed by an adult with a child under 4' tall sitting on the aid. The "driver" must be an adult.

Skate aids are available for purchase on site at The Rink only. Availability is first come, first served. Skate aids are not transferable to other skating parties.

EARLY BIRD SPECIAL: skate aids are free before 11am daily, per availability.

What size skates do you have?
Kids 6-4, Adults 5-14

Do you have lockers this year?
Yes, we have limited lockers available this year. Bring a lock, or buy one of ours onsite. There is no re-entry to The Rink, so you must retrieve your items from the locker after your session. Locks left behind will be cut by security in between sessions and at the end of the day.

Please see “Pricing + storage” above.

Can I visit Overlook?
Currently, Overlook is only available for events.

  • Ice skates must be worn to enter the ice rink.
  • Read and abide by all signs.
  • Follow announcements, and obey the instructions of the skate guards.
  • Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
  • Cell phones, headphones, cameras, backpacks, and pocketbooks are not permitted on the ice.
  • Food and drinks are not permitted on the ice, or in the Skating Pavilion.
  • Skating while under the influence of drugs or alcohol is strictly prohibited.
  • No sitting or climbing on the railings.
  • No carrying a child while ice skating. This is very dangerous for the child.
  • No more than two people may hold hands while skating.
  • Do not congregate at the railings or block the entrances/exits.
  • The center of the ice rink is for skating lessons and figure skating.
  • Spins, jumps, and backwards skating are not permitted.
  • Please report any injury to a Winter Village staff member.
  • Skate respectfully.
  • For security reasons, online skating reservations require the name of each person in your party. If fake or repeat names are used, your order may be cancelled, and you will be charged a cancellation fee. Failure to comply with this policy could result in being permanently banned from The Rink.
  • If you do not show up for a skate reservation and make no attempt to notify us in advance, this constitutes a “no-show”. Repeated “no-shows” are grounds for being permanently banned from The Rink.
  • No abusive, aggressive, abrasive, or disorderly conduct, which may include weaving, pushing, and power stopping.
  • If you are skating in any manner that endangers your fellow skaters, you may be warned and/or asked to leave the ice. Winter Village staff members reserve the right to permanently ban aggressive skaters from The Rink.
Skating reservations are approximately 60 minutes from arrival to departure so that everyone can enjoy free public ice skating at Winter Village.
