This summer, we studied a variety of martial arts and self defense in the park with our free classes from the best NYC studios.

Classes are held on the Fifth Avenue Terrace in front of the New York Public Library between 40th and 42nd Streets.
Based on the science of Bruce Lee's Martial Arts (Jeet Kune Do), JKDNYC will train you from defending against punches, kicks, random attacks and being grabbed. In addition, this class will cover how to deal with knife defense and staying calm under pressure.
An all-levels boxing class taught by Gorilla Vinny Training, this class focuses on fundamentals and conditioning. Participants will learn basic strikes, defensive movements, and footwork through classic shadow boxing drills and martial arts training techniques.
Patrick Stout teaches the fundamentals of Thai Boxing, first working on stance and footwork, then moving on to offense, defense, and finally, techniques!
Kelly Gore from The Last Round NYC teaches a class designed for all levels, from beginners to professional boxers. This class focuses on skill, self-discipline, and endurance conditioning; expect calisthenics, shadow boxing, footwork drills, rope jumping, and more.
