Looking Forward to Spring
With Bank of America Winter Village now closed for the season, it’s time to look toward the warm-weather activities on their way. Incredibly, at the same place where thousands of people skated, browsed for gifts, and celebrated winter, visitors will soon be attending performances, taking free classes, participating in activities, and sprawling on the Lawn.
The linchpin of this transformation is the removal the ice rink. We began disassembling Winter Village immediately upon its closing, and once all the materials are out of the way, Park Manager Brian Schliessman will begin preparations for the Lawn: inspecting the irrigation and drainage systems, grading the area, and pouring the root-zone mixture. Then he’ll roll out the sod, which he has already chosen and is currently growing in New Jersey. Once the sod has had adequate time to take root and become healthy enough for public use, it will open up for the season in May.
In the meantime, there’s still lots to do during this annual transition. Take a free Park Tour, a spin on Le Carrousel, learn to juggle, or stay fit with our early-morning Boot Camp. You can stay up-to-date about the spring rollout of our other free park programs and amenities on our website.
