Gridding Workshop

Students participating in a watercolor workshop at the Art Cart in Bryant Park
Bryant Park Corporation
September 6, 2024, 5:00pm–6:00pm

Get inspired by the urban life, flowers, and monuments of Bryant Park, then express it with our free drawing and craft supplies.  Adults and kids alike are invited to get creative.

Materials are always changing, but drawing pencils, erasers, and brush markers are generally available. The Art Cart also provides a rotating selection of craft supplies, including crayons, colored pencils, markers, ribbon, glue, construction paper, stencils, beads, yarn, and coloring sheets.

Learn two gridding techniques to transfer images and create realistic drawings with correct proportions: a classic grid and an organic grid (also known as the “doodle grid” or “scribble grid”). This method can be used to create drawings of any scale and transfer images by hand to create a large scale mural!

Taught by Kristy McCarthy, this workshop is for ages 10+, register here.
