Poetry: Debra Allbery and John Skoyles

Award-winning poetry by established and emerging poets throughout the summer.

Debra Allbery is the author, most recently, of Fimbul-Winter (Four Way Books), which won the National Book Prize in Poetry from Grub Street.  Her poems have appeared in The Iowa Review, Kenyon Review, The Nation, Poetry, Yale Review, and elsewhere. The recipient of two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Starrett Prize from the University of Pittsburgh Press, a Hawthornden fellowship, and other awards, she taught in the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College for nearly thirty years and directed the program from 2009-2023.

John Skoyles’ eighth book of poems, That’s Where You Come In, and his novel, All the Question Marks, will be published this fall. His work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Nation, The New York Times, The Paris Review and The Atlantic. He has taught at Southern Methodist University, Sarah Lawrence College, Warren Wilson College (where he directed the MFA program) and Emerson College.  He has also served as the Executive Director of the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown and been the poetry editor of Ploughshares from 2007-2025.
