This summer, our free Wednesday evening yoga class is back on the lawn! Please register for each class and bring your own mat (the park does not provide mats). We also recommend bringing water and a towel. Our yoga classes are appropriate for all levels.

Instructor info:

Andrew Pyo is the Lead Yoga Instructor at Chelsea Piers Fitness.  Born in South Korea and raised in Kentucky, he also teaches at Yoga Shanti Sag Harbor, Align Yoga Hamptons and The Well New York.

While working on Wall Street, Andrew began a regular asana practice.  At his first yoga class, he was amazed by the grace, flexibility and strength of fellow students in the room.  He left feeling physically challenged and refreshed, as well as more limber and centered.  Many classes later, Andrew discovered yoga's enormous calming effect, bringing peace and clarity to the mind, body and soul before the start of each work day.  Observing one's breath, pausing to reflect and removing distractions help to quiet the mind and organize one's thoughts, especially when juggling competing priorities and interests.

Open to all levels, his classes are dynamic, athletic and accessible, as well as meditative and restorative.  He emphasizes alignment, which supports spinal integrity and cultivates joint stability, in order to help students discover a free and easy breath as well as longevity into their practices.

Mia Fasanella is an E-RYT 500 yoga instructor with over a decade of experience. She is also an NYC public school teacher. Mia brings a grounded, compassionate, and inclusive approach to both the yoga studio and the elementary classroom. She began practicing yoga in highschool, but quickly discovered her passion extended beyond the physical asanas. Mia completed her first yoga instructor training course during her undergraduate years and began regularly teaching at the SUNY Oswego Fitness Center. She went on to complete her 200-hour and 300-hour certifications with Yoga Shanti, as well as Urban Zen Integrative Therapy Level One. She continues to study with Colleen Saidman Yee and Rodney Yee and is now a longtime Yoga Shanti teacher and mentor. Mia also teaches at Chelsea Piers Fitness and works with private clients across NYC and the Hamptons. Her classes offer safe, intentional sequencing paired with playful flows that are accessible to students of various levels. Gratitude, breath awareness, balancing poses and Reiki all inspire her personal practice and teaching. She considers yoga her best tool for managing Type One diabetes from a place of physical and emotional wellbeing. Mia’s unflappable spirit and calm, kind demeanor inform and infuse her yoga classes.
